How You Do Anything is How You Do Everything
Mother Nature is a greedy, hill-climbing algorithm. Likewise, the animal kingdom she built is myopically economic. Our evolved brain allows us to override our natural instincts. To forecast and plan; to think ahead.
Yet it is still our factory default setting to act for the short-term. There is a potential excuse for why taking quick-and-dirty short-cuts is okay ‘this time’ every time. We're creatures of habit.
Build a better habit. Force yourself not to give in to that path of least resistance. Eventually it will become unconscious, your new default setting, and you'll enjoy much higher returns on investment in all avenues of life.
It's not about perfectionism, or over-analysing trivial matters. It's about doing something well, so that you don't have to do it twice, or forever be paying for it. It's about long-term health, stability, productivity, and prosperity. Most of all, it's about consistency.
Because how you do anything is how you do everything.
